Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the auto18n website, dashboard, and API (the "Service"), operated by Auto18n Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of a company, you represent that you have authority to bind that company.

2. The Service

auto18n provides machine translation through an HTTP API, powered by large language models, with a translation cache, usage analytics, and team management. Translation output is generated automatically; we do not review it.

3. Accounts and teams

You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your credentials secure. Accounts belong to a team; team owners and admins can manage API keys, billing, and invitations. You are responsible for activity under your account and your team's API keys, including usage by people you invite.

4. API keys and security

API keys are shown once at creation and stored by us only in hashed form. Keep keys confidential. If a key is exposed, revoke it in the dashboard immediately; usage incurred before revocation remains billable.

5. Credits, billing, and refunds

  • Live usage is paid from a prepaid credit balance. Credits are purchased via Stripe and consumed per use at the prices shown on the pricing page at the time of the request.
  • Optional auto-refill charges your saved payment method when your balance drops below your configured threshold. You can disable it at any time in the dashboard.
  • Unused credits do not expire while your account is active. Credits are non-refundable except where required by law or at our discretion; contact support for issues with mistaken purchases.
  • We may change prices with at least 14 days' notice; changes apply to usage after the notice period, never retroactively to credits already spent.
  • Prices exclude taxes; you are responsible for applicable taxes.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for content that is illegal, infringes third-party rights, or violates applicable export or sanctions rules;
  • attempt to circumvent rate limits, free-tier limits, or security controls, or probe other customers' data;
  • resell raw access to the Service without our agreement;
  • use output to train competing translation services where the underlying model provider prohibits it.

We may throttle or suspend accounts that breach these rules or create abnormal load, and will tell you why unless legally prevented.

7. Your content

You retain all rights to the text you submit and the translations you receive. You grant us a license to process, transmit, and store that content as needed to operate the Service — including storing translations in our cache so repeat requests are served without re-translation. Platform-mode cache entries are deduplicated across customers by source text, languages, and model; see the Privacy Policy for details. Do not submit content you lack the rights to process.

8. Availability and changes

We aim for high availability but the Service is provided without a guaranteed uptime commitment at this time. We may modify features with reasonable notice for material changes. Translation quality depends on the underlying models and is not guaranteed for any particular purpose — review output before relying on it in high-stakes contexts.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. MACHINE TRANSLATION MAY CONTAIN ERRORS.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts for material breach of these Terms. On termination we will, on request and where legally permitted, refund the remaining prepaid balance of accounts in good standing.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced via the website or email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
